It’s Al Fresco’s birthday!

Al Fresco is one year old already! Twelve months ago I was publishing my first post here, phew! I talked about how to tell if your potted plants need a repot. Today, it’s mandatory to write a reflection about this blog and my personal experience. Lots of things have changed since February 2016, and lots of things are going to change in Al Fresco! How? Let me tell you…

This blog was born as a result of having too much free time. I had already finished my university degree, had an MSc and I was doing nothing. Well, this is actually not true. In fact, I did lots of things during that time: learnt new things that I was good at, worked out way more, started a new, totally vocational degree in distance education; set new life goals, was relaxed to the max and started writing Al Fresco. Today, life is completely different: Gon (the technical half of Al Fresco) and I have moved abroad, and I have a job in academia, which is something I’ve always wanted.

But! I used to live in a big house with garden that allowed me to get all dirty and create new content for Al Fresco any day, and now I live in a 60 square meters sixth floor apartment. This sure will impact the blog. It’s time to get creative and broaden the scope. Aside from the usual gardening, veg gardening and landscaping, I plan to write more about the outdoors, trying to live sustainably, and science too (why not, it’s a big part of my life now).

And what has happened in Al Fresco during this year? If I had to pick only one moment, it would be the hike to one of the highest peaks in Spain. This was my first real mountaineering, and I am looking forward to repeat the experience. On the other hand, the most visited posts were about identification of citrus fruit trees, plant nutrient deficiencies, types of pots and easy care indoor plants.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready to spend another year Al Fresco : )

What do you think? Do you have any suggestions or topics you’d want me to talk about? I’m all eyes!
